Robert Downey Jr. & Wife Susan Downey Expecting First Child Together
Robert Downey Jr. and his producer wife, Susan Downey, are expecting. The couple has been married for six years and this would be the wife about whom Downey Jr. gushed in a recent interview with Playboy. He seems loved-up and doting. And the 46-year-old is about to have his first child with her. The baby is due in February.
“I think it’s wonderful that she’s pregnant,” Susan’s aunt, Nancy Miller, told Star. “The baby is due in February. Susan’s father, my brother, called me about three weeks ago with the good news. Her parents are over the moon about it.”
“It [doesn’t] really matter if it’s a boy or a girl,” Miller added. “What really matters is that the baby is healthy.”
The couple’s rep confirms the news to People.com too. “Robert and Susan could not be more excited over this news,” his rep says. “They can’t wait to welcome this new baby into their wonderful family.”
The actor, who is about to start filming as Iron Man again in The Avengers, has an 17-year-old son (18, if you read RadarOnline), Indio, from his previous 12-year marriage to actress/singer Deborah Falconer.
Downey Jr. correctly guessed he’d have another child before 2012, saying last year, “I think I will be wrist-deep in doo-doo within 18 months. I’m calling it right here… I think we should probably try to have a girl because I don’t want another male entity to have to compete… I don’t want Indio to feel there’s another boy in my life. But I don’t know what we’d have to do [to have a girl]. Do we have to put it in a spoon and hang it upside-down?”
