Robert Pattinson “Relaxed” During Press Tour; Will Kristen Stewart Be In The Huntsman?

August 15, 2012 by Hollywoodite

There are many, many updates that it’s easier to address in one go. So, starting with Robert Pattinson because it’s really been about his mollification and his pedestal this week, let’s start there.

Pattinson stuck with his promotional obligations for Cosmopolis this week, even though no one would have blamed him for bailing and even though he admitted to Jon Stewart for The Daily Show the actor has no publicist to approve, nor script, nor coach, the scandal so he’s turning up to interviews blind and basically winging it while being a bag of nerves and nervous ticks. He got through The Daily Show with ice cream, he got through Good Morning America with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and he got through HLN with director David Cronenberg protectively fielding some of the more intrusive questions. And today, there are reports about how Pattinson is handing the scrutiny.

Sources tell Us Weekly Magazine of the Cosmopolis premiere after party, held at The Dream Downtown hotel in NYC’s Meatpacking district Monday night: He “looked happy,” said one eyewitness. “He was friendly and spoke to everyone that said hello. There was no talk of Kristen. He was smiling and laughing a lot.” Another Us source says: “It’s really too bad that there was a cloud over his big night. He knows that everyone wanted to ask and bring it up… He’s ready for life after Twilight now;  now more than ever.”

People Magazine’s sources said of the evening: “He was very charismatic, all smiles, looking very relaxed and hugging all who stopped by to say. The general crowd gravitated towards his table, but he was shielded by security. He was surrounded by women and the movie’s cast. The whole room was watching him, and he looked genuinely at ease and comfortable the whole time.”

And Kristen Stewart has been paying attention too, says a RadarOnline.com source: “Just like his devout fans, Kristen tuned in to Robert’s interview with Jon Stewart with drawn breath. But, after seeing him deflect the questions about her, Kristen’s anxiety soon disappeared and instead she was filled with regret. While she was obviously relieved that Robert didn’t trash her, the realization that their relationship was finally over hit her hard. Kristen was praying that after the dust settled, she would get another chance and she was clinging on to that hope. But she knows now that it’s not to be. Instead, she’s believes that they can now work on a friendship and is desperate to apologize to Robert in person for her affair with Rupert.”

In other Stewart news, the 22-year-old may have been marginalised or dropped from The Huntsman spin-off that was originally supposed to be a Snow White and the Huntsman sequel. The Hollywood Reporter claimed this morning, Stewart was basically fired and the SWATH 2 screenwriter would be “settled” out of his contract so the re-tooling could begin. A few hours later though, Universal issued a non-rebuttal to the L.A. Times saying Stewart’s not so much fired as sidelined for most of the second film, probably, and Stewart’s Snow White “could still be a character in the film.”

Lastly, Panic Room co-star Jodie Foster (who worked with an 11-year-old Stewar in 2001) issued a defense of Stewart in a post for The Daily Beast.

“In my era, through discipline and force of will, you could still manage to reach for a star-powered career and have the authenticity of a private life,” Foster writes for The Daily Beast.

“I’ve said it before and I will say it again: if I were a young actor today I would quit before I started,” she continues.

“If I had to grow up in this media culture, I don’t think I could survive it emotionally,” Foster adds. “I would only hope that someone who loved me, really loved me, would put their arm around me and lead me away to safety.”

“Just to set the record straight, a salary for a given on-screen performance does not include the right to invade anyone’s privacy, to destroy someone’s sense of self… eventually this all passes. The public horrors of today eventually blow away…. Hopefully in the process you don’t lose your ability to throw your arms in the air again and spin in wild abandon. That is the ultimate F.U. and, finally, the most beautiful survival tool of all. Don’t let them take that away from you.” – via The Daily Beast.
