Russell Brand Filed For Divorce From Katy Perry: Was She Blindsided?
What went so wrong in the last four-hours, since TMZ.com reported “Katy Perry and Russell Brand: NO Plan to Divorce”?
Only a few hours ago, sources who were clearly out of the loop/ left off the BBMs on the matter, claimed that Brand and Perry were “dealing with something,” but would work through their marital problems. The sources dismissed concerns over Perry not wearing her wedding ring during her Hawaii vacation 7,000 miles away from her husband. However, no excuse was given for Brand not wearing his ring yesterday or today. Well, whatever went wrong has ended in divorce since Brand filed papers.
Oh, that.
The documents filed in Los Angeles (while he’s alone in London and she’s with friends in Hawaii, both ringless over their separate holidays) cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason Brand sneak-filed after closing on a Friday. Incidentally, the best time to bury bad news is late Friday… and this occurs over the holidays, no less.
Well, it’s over. According to TMZ, who’s information can’t really be trusted at this point, there was no massive fight that led to the split, as claimed by Us Weekly.
It appears the couple were having problems during their Twitter denials and concurrent denials on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Barbara Walters for her 10 Most Fascinating People interview. Brand claimed at the time: “What?!? She should have told me!” Oh, the irony. Perry told Walters: “I think that [marriage is] lovely so far.”
Brand relased a statement that didn’t acknowledge blindsiding the singer: “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
