Buckwild’s Salwa Amin: “It’s Disrespectful of the Rest of the Cast if They Want to Continue”

Buckwild’s Salwa Amin was arrested back in February on drug possession with intent to deliver for which she was later released on bond. Only weeks later, she was back in jail on a failed drug test. In a subsequent interview with 13 News, Amin admits she’s a “recovering drug addict” and she knew she would fail the drug test that landed her back in jail. Moreover, Amin admits in the same interview that she was using drugs during the whole season one of Buckwild and fans have been watching her under the influence this whole time.

Later in the interview, conducted from jail, Amin talks about the passing of cast member Shain Gandee. She elaborates, she was not contacted by MTV about Gandee’s death and she was distraught at not being able to attend the funeral. She goes on, adamantly exclaiming it’s “disrespectful” of the remaining cast members to want to film the show right now. She intended to film while she was out of jail but never got the chance before being re-arrested in March, so she understands that the cast care about the show. However, she thinks MTV did the right thing “choosing respect over money” and thinks it’s “too soon” to start filming when a main cast member just died.

She tells 13 News, “I think, right now, it’s disrespectful of them if they want to continue, if they want to just start back on air, right this very moment, I think there should be a respectful grieving process for the main character of the show. I don’t see how they’re trying to campaign for the show immediately after one of our main cast members is dead… I understand where they’re coming from, because I’m a big fan of the show. I want the show to continue, and I hope they do continue it, so I understand where they’re coming from. But I think it’s just too soon to start filming again.”
