Sarah Jessica Parker In Marie Claire: “I Never Trade On My Celebrity”
August 3, 2011 by Hollywoodite
Sarah Jessica Parker covers Marie Claire September 2011 in order to promote a film that wasn’t funny as a television show or when it was called Sex & The City Movie, SATC2 Movie. It’s that film with Pierce Brosnan in which he’s underdeveloped so Parker can retain the spotlight she laments in this interview. Oh, the interview. Parker’s probably being creative with her wording. It’s hard to tell. Take any one thing she says out of context and she can sound pretty awful. Like the interview where it sounded like she was bashing women with nannies for phoning it in, when she was making another point entirely. Well, in this interview, she talks about how she never wanted to be famous and how she’s not using her fame to her advantage.
On a Page Six item claiming she complained about being called for jury duty: “For Page Six to be so cavalier – I was so outraged by the character assassination! I have served so many times, I was asked to come speak at Jury Appreciation Day! I expect I should be more calloused by now, but I am so sensitive about not ever living up to anybody’s worst idea about an actor who is well-known.”
On not wanting to be a celebrity: “I never wanted to be a celebrity; I never wanted to be famous. And in my daily life, I work really hard to not trade on it in any way. I am so desperately worried about anybody saying, ‘She cut in line’ or ‘She took our table’ or She got out of jury duty’ or ‘She doesn’t do her own grocery shopping.’ The things that bother me are counter to who I am and the way I live. It’s not like it’s hard to be decent and respectful and well-behaved. I do wait in line, and I do take the subway, and I do do my own grocery shopping, and I do take the kids to school.” – via Marie Claire.
Sure, she never wanted to be famous, which is why she was the only one, of four, on the first Sex & The City movie poster. And why she’s always pushing her horse face into the camera as better actors act her off the screen. She comes across as that thirsty because she doesn’t seek fame… And any illusions otherwise, like with your perceptions of GOOPY, are all in your mind.
