Sarah Jessica Parker Designing Shoe Collection For Manolo Blahnik

June 7, 2013 by Jennifer Exley

Fifteen years to the day after Sarah Jessica Parker hit screens as the fashionista Carrie Bradshaw, Parker announced she will be making a shoe line.

The line will be titled simply SJP and will be a collaboration with – who else? – George Malkemus, CEO of Manolo Blahnik. It would be impossible to see Parker collaborate with any other designer after her years strutting New York streets in the famous Manolo Blahniks.

Parker told US Vogue that she is taking inspiration from “great old-school labels like Charles Jourdon and Maud Frizon” and she is aiming to create something a little different in terms of shape, color and price. Pumps and flats will be priced between $200 and $300. In addition to the shoes, there will also be bags (from around $700) and tench coats.

“In a silly way, I think it’s what people have expected of me most because of Carrie Bradshaw,” Parker told Vogue. “We’re putting new colors together that people don’t typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet.”

Interestingly, in March SJP was told by doctors that she should lay off the sky high heels because of the damage they are doing to her feet.  Maybe designing a flat with Manolo Blahnik is the only way to get Parker out of the heels.

The collection will be produced entirely in Europe and New York and will be on sale exclusively at Nordstrom early next year.
