Scarlett Johansson Talks About Her Photos Being Hacked, Leaked – Video
September 27, 2011 by Hollywoodite
Scarlett Johansson has indirectly addressed her feelings on her nudes being leaked to a message board in March (there was a fuss made about them, again, in early September, when they leaked to a second message board). The FBI previously confirmed their involvement in the celebrity hackings with a terse statement that made it clear, yes, they do have better things to do than help celebrities with nudes most leaked themselves. However, they’re under legal duress because of laws relating to the access of private digital spaces and information.
In any case, Johansson was asked during a longer interview with CNN about personal privacy for celebrities, especially whether celebrities have a right to privacy and why Johansson got the FBI involved six months after the first photo surfaced (the photo showing her bare back and butt leaked to a notorious image message board back in March of this year, so she took half-a-year… NOT one day… to contact authorities).
Why is it important to protect your privacy particularly when it comes to illegal acts to try and breach it? I think the question is sort of redundant. Who doesn’t want to protect their own privacy? Just because you’re in the spotlight or just because you’re an actor or make films doesn’t mean that you’re not entitled to your own personal privacy.
No matter what the context, when that is sieged in some way it feels unjust, it feels wrong. I’ve gotten that response from many people that I’ve met now. They say ‘how do you deal with the invasion of privacy?’ I don’t know. To me it’s an adjustment. There are certainly instances I think where you give a lot of yourself, finally you just kind of put your foot down and say ‘wait, I’m taking it back. – via CNN.
