Marine Sgt. Scott Moore Asked Out Mila Kunis As A Bet

Last week, a video started to be passed around and eventually made it onto blogs such as Just Jared. It showed a U.S. marine squinting in the sun and nonchalantly asking out a millionairess, a stranger, for a date to a military event. The video spread with the help of other marines and went viral; eventually reaching Justin Timberlake who acted like a pimp in his heavy-handed handling of the situation. Well, in any case, it worked. Mila Kunis said yes.

Wait, what?!

Yeah, according to a retelling by her pimp, Kunis said yes to the thinly-veiled emotional blackmail in order to not be publicly-slammed for turning down a marine. She said yes. When asked to do so, ‘for your country,’ by Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake himself had been accosted by an inquisitive Showbiz411 reporter, who wanted to know whether Kunis had seen the video. He then made it a personal mission to make the meet-up happen. And here we are.

Because this is the Internet, and because of the palpable self-hate at not thinking of the idea first, the marine has been asked what on earth persuaded him to make the video and whether he really thought he had any chance. He pretty much says, in a rather long question and answer, he did it for a bet but still liked his chances of getting a yes.

How did you come up with the idea for the video? “It was kind of a bet between me and Marines in my platoon. I told everyone I was going to do it, but they didn’t think I would go through with it. One day we had a couple minutes, and I took another Marine out with me and we shot two takes. The first one was without sunglasses but I was squinting too much because it was so bright, so we shot the one I uploaded to YouTube. The rest of the Marines liked it, so I posted it that day.”

When you posted the video, did you ever think you’d really get a date with Mila? “I always thought I had a chance, and sometimes that’s all you need. The Marines I work with did their best to spread it around.”

How do you feel now that you’ve made it happen? “My initial reaction was disbelief. It’s going to be a great experience to meet her, and it’s going to make the ball more special for everyone.”

What can Mila expect to see at the ball? “A lot of Marines who are very happy to be home from Afghanistan, celebrating a successful deployment and the 236th birthday of our Marine Corps. I would like to refer to Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote about Marines for this one: ‘The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!’”
