Simon Cowell Is Expecting A Child With His Friend’s Wife

Simon Cowell is known for his harsh criticism and low-cut t-shirts on American Idol and The X-Factor but, soon, the infamous reality star will be channelling a softer side. According to a new report, Cowell is expecting his first child. Only problem? His soon-to-be baby mama is his close friend’s wife!

Us Weekly is reporting that the mother of Cowell’s child is New York socialite Lauren Silverman, 36, the wife of real estate mogul Andrew Silverman. ”She’s around 10 weeks along,” a source reveals.

Although the Silvermans are still technically married, Lauren reportedly has plans to leave her husband and be with the father of her unborn child. ”Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while,” the source adds. “As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close.”

While the fact that Cowell is expecting a baby with his friend’s wife is certainly shocking, equally shocking is the fact that he is having a child at all. Judging by his on-screen persona, he doesn’t really seem like the fatherly type. Plus, he’s never really seemed all that convinced that fatherhood was for him.

Last year, during an interview with AOL Music, Cowell was asked if he would like to one day have children.

“Well … yes,” he admitted. “And no. I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them. The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids and I’ve always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I’ve probably missed the opportunity.”
