The Situation: Rehab For “Pills & Illegal Substances” Or Just “Resting”?

March 21, 2012 by Hollywoodite

There are conflicting reports about what’s going on with Jersey Shore’s The Situation ahead of the season six start.

Last night, TMZ.com reported that The Situation is in rehab for substance abuse problems. Leading his rep and sources to immediately deny any drug or other issues.

“He is not in rehab for substance abuse. He has spent the last several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule,” said the rep.

Changing its tune since yesterday, RadarOnline.com today claims that the 29-year-old is indeed in rehab. Specifically, for prescription pill and illegal drug issues although it neglects to name specifics. A source tells the website, The Situation has had an issue with pills for MONTHS and it’s only one of the reason he’s  gone away.

“[He had] become dependent on prescription pills to counteract his hard-partying lifestyle, which included illegal substances,” says the source. “Mike was in a vicious cycle of not sleeping because of the illegal substances that he was taking, so he began using prescription pills to help him sleep. Mike would refer to the prescriptions pills as ‘downers.’ The good news is that he was the one that wanted to get help and checked into rehab. Hopefully with the proper treatment, Mike will be able to lead a sober life.”

Reports such as this lead the rep to counter, again, telling E! Online The Situation is not in rehab at all so much as he sequestered himself for the sake of R&R. Moreover, the reality star recently tweeted: “Getting in amazing shape for season 6. Don’t believe everything you read or hear.”
