Snooki Denies Fat-Shaming: “I Never Dissed Jessica Simpson”
Snooki has taken to Twitter to defend comments made to Us Weekly Magazine at an MTV event last week.
The tabloid claimed the 24-year-old fat-shamed Jessica Simpson while bragging about being “so thin” she didn’t need maternity clothing yet and avoiding “fatty” foods because she’d “die” if she ended up “her size.”
Body-snarking another pregnant woman isn’t great publicity for her spin-off. So there’s an oddly-worded rebuttal on Twitter: “I NEVER dissed Jessica Simpson you weirdo tabloids, get over it with your ‘pregnant war’ articles. I love the girl and her hot ass bump.”
A couple of things: Snooki doesn’t deny the interview altogether, she doesn’t really claim to have been misquoted, she doesn’t deny the quote “I would die if I were [Jessica’s] size,” nor does she deny inadvertent fat-shaming. It sounds like she regrets how it sounds, she regrets saying it at all, and she’s upset at how it’s being taken out-of-context (it sounds even worse IN context, oddly).
So, she’s not denying saying it. She probably said it, without meaning to sound so catty.
