Solange Knowles Unexpectedly Cancels Multiple Performances

We all know and love singer-songwriter Beyonce Knowles, but what about her little sister? Solange also grew up in the industry, beginning at the age of 16 and releasing two albums and several successful singles. In fact, she has been working hard on a new album (which will be released this year), and she is starting her own label.

On her website, Solange says, “Super stoked to announce I’ve started my own label, Saint Records, where I’ll be releasing my music and other projects distributed through Sony! Through Saint Records I will have 100% creative/artistic control and continue to passionately pursue my footing in this new musical movement.” But has she taken on too much with a family and recent move?

Solange had been planning on attending a series of music festivals in Europe this summer before she suddenly decided to cancel. According to People, Solange said: “I wish I could put in words how much of a difficult decision this was… but between moving part time to a new city, starting my son in a new school, and writing/recording my new record … I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family.”

Solange is a talented singer who chose to put her personal life before a business opportunity. It is difficult to disappoint the public and cancel a huge opportunity, so maybe we can sympathize with the fact that Solange felt that she needed to look out for her family’s best interest.

We forgive you, Solange, but maybe next time plan ahead. A new opportunity to travel and perform should resurface soon enough!
