Tabloid Covers: Star, Us Weekly, People, Reality Weekly Magazine

The remaining tabloid covers are weaksauce, so they’re being clumped together for the sake of brevity. Most of the somewhat interesting stories this week are generic Kardashian filler, and, oddly, some of the actual exclusives are pretty dull. It’s a mix of reality news, royal news, and news you already spent the whole week reading like the John Travolta scandal.

* Star Magazine’s cover reads: “Star Exclusive: Secret Arrangement. Kelly’s private hell: She collapses as sex scandal rocks family: What she knew about John and when; Kelly’s mom talks exclusively to Star.” The tabloid examines where/ when the gay rumours really began: in 1990, when gay porn star Paul Barresi claimed to have had a sexual relationship with the actor between 1983 and 1985. Travolta married Kelly Preston in 1991, and a source says Preston signed a contract, an arrangement, because she “knows” he’s really gay. So far as the claim of an “exclusive interview” with Preston’s mother, Linda Carlson, it reads like a seconds-long phone conversation. Carlson is quoted as saying: “Please don’t believe the trash out there, It’s such trash. Absolute rubbish. They couldn’t be happier.” Noted.

* Us Weekly’s cover reads: “With Joe facing jail and accused of cheating, Teresa lashes out at Melissa [Gorga] and plots to exploit her family’s shame for her own fame. Humiliated by her husband.” Among the things Us Weekly says Joe Giudice has done: drunken onscreen outbursts, a DWI arrest, an $11 million bankruptcy filing, and an indictment for using a false ID to obtain a driver’s license. And he’s a bad father. A source says: “It’s disgusting the things Joe says. Milania says hooker. Where does a 5-year-old hear that word?”

* People Magazine’s cover reads: “A Princess Makeover. Wow! Sexy New Kate. How she’s transforming herself into the most glamorous royal since Princess Diana.” In a fluff story that’s really about Kate Middleton doing her own shopping, hair, and make-up.

* Reality Weekly’s cover reads: “America’s Got Talent War: Howard vs. Howie. They Hate Each Other. Jealousy, insults and the cruel prank that sent Howie reeling. Plus: Sharon caught in the middle.”
