ITW: Suri Cruise “Abandoned By Daddy” After “44 Days” Without Tom Cruise

When it behooved In Touch Weekly Magazine to switch from a “poor-Katie Holmes” narrative to a “poor-Tom Cruise” narrative, so as not to bore their readers but milk the divorce for all it was worth, its cover had a staged photo from the 50-year-old actor’s visitation to which he had allegedly invited paparazzi. Their cover story: one day of “fun” contrived by her father meant six-year-old Suri Cruise was “Forgetting Mommy Already.” Immediately prior, another ITW (and Star) cover alleged “I Want To Live With Daddy.”
It’s an account of Cruise’s affections supported by Holmes (sources) upon their divorce.
He was allegedly an absentee husband, and father, who only appeared or was affectionate in public for the cameras. Work came first, it was “understood” and agreed upon, and any PDA or family time was a show for the paparazzi. His ex-girlfriend from the Vanity Fair article said the same thing: actress Nazanin Boniadi grew “overwhelmed” with “the intensity of [Cruise’s] affection, especially his predilection for public displays [of affection].” And now ITW is suggesting the same, that the actor is an absentee father unless there’s a camera around.
The cover says: “44 Days Without Tom. Abandoned By Daddy. Suri is left heartbroken as Tom suddenly shuts her out and even misses her first day of school. Has he chosen Scientology over Suri for good?”
A teaser for the story says: Suri Cruise was visibly nervous as she arrived at her first day of school, sticking close to mom Katie Holmes, who supported her as best she could. Noticeably absent was her father, Tom Cruise, who Suri hasn’t been photographed with in 44 days. Instead of being there for his youngest daughter, Tom was in London drinking with a group of friends. “He was laughing and talking a lot to everyone,” says an onlooker, “like he didn’t have a care in the world.”
It’s been 44 days (at press time) since Tom Cruise has been photographed with his daughter Suri, last spotted together at Disney World on Aug. 4.
And since missing one of the most important days of her life, the first day of school at private NYC school Avenues, many close to Katie Holmes are baffled and worried for the 6-year-old.
“He has the means. He could have flown to NYC for one day to see Suri off to school,” a family friend of Katie’s tells the new issue of In Touch, on newsstands now. “It was selfish. He was out having a good time.”
Attorneys say the actor has been busy working in London, where he’s been on location shooting a new movie, All You Need Is Kill.
Tom, who didn’t fight Katie for custody of Suri after his wife of five years blindsided him with the divorce in June, was spotted drinking beer with a group of pals at the Swan pub just days before his daughter’s first day in school. “He was laughing and talking a lot to everyone like he didn’t have a care in the world,” an onlooker tells the mag.
“No one is surprised he wasn’t there for Suri. He has a way of shutting everyone out when he’s focusing on work,” another insider adds. – via In Touch Weekly Magazine.
Incidentally, Tom Cruise is currently suing Life & Style Magazine for running a similar story in July, “Suri In Tears: Abandoned By Dad,” to which his lawyer responded: the Life & Style story “is a disgusting, vicious lie… until this week, Tom was shooting a film on location, but he spoke to Suri every day. Tom dearly loves Suri and the last thing he would ever do is abandoned her.” That’ll probably be their response to ITW’s cover story too.
