Teen Mom 2: Leah Messer reveals daughter Aliannah has Muscular Dystrophy
Teen Mom 2 reality star Leah Messer-Calvert has revealed to fans the cause of the health problems that have affected her daughter, Aliannah, 4.
“We were scared because we didn’t know what her future was going to look like, but we always pushed for answers,” Leah tells In Touch Weekly. “We never gave up, and we never will. We’ll do everything we can to make sure Ali has the life that she needs.”
“The disorder affects her respiratory system and progresses the older she gets,” Leah explains.
“The bigger she gets and the more weight she gains, the harder it’ll be for her muscles to carry the weight,” she adds because, although Ali can walk now, eventually, she’ll have to use a wheelchair.
As such, Leah shares, she and her husband Jeremy Calvert are selling their current home and moving into something wheelchair/ handicap accessible.
“Ali’s condition has brought us all extremely close together,” she adds of the girls’ father, Corey. “We have to stay strong for Ali, and things are going good.”
