The Bachelor Season 17 Episode Three Recap: Part One

January 22, 2013 by Coco Liberty

Within two weeks, Sean has whittled it down to 16 girls and he’s already building strong relationships with some of the girls. This is extreme dating where the maximum time he’s talked with a girl is about one hour. Can you imagine making a decision based on talking to someone for that short of a time? Well, luckily for Leslie M, she started the chemistry early with the photo shoot and has been rewarded with a one-on-one date.

“How long will this last?” was on the date card and not only does it refer to their date… but also why are there so many commercials to fill the two hour time? Anyway, Sean and Leslie M went to Hollywood’s Guinness World record center to break the record for longest on-film kiss. They were surrounded by a crowd who was cheering their kiss on. The record was 3:15 and it felt like forever watching this kiss. They had to keep their lips together in order to break the record.

Leslie captures this perfectly when saying that kissing is “not so intimate on Hollywood Blvd.” After breaking the record, they have a seat on the rooftop of the Roosevelt Hotel and discuss how they feel very comfortable with one another especially after that kiss. He feels like he’s known Leslie forever and asks her if “you can develop real feelings in this setting?” They believe they can and end the night with a rose. They kiss under the Roosevelt Hotel sign with confetti falling everywhere. Their date is like a scene from a movie.

Date #2 is a group date with Kacie B, Robyn, Leslie H, Kristy, Catherine, Desiree, Taryn, Amanda, Lindsay, Daniella, Jackie, and Tierra where they play volleyball against each other for more time with Sean. They meet up at Zuma Beach and the girls are broken up into teams. The Blue Team is Lindsay, Jackie, Robyn, Desiree, Amanda, and Kacie B, and the Red Team is Catherine, Kristy, Daniella, Tierra, Taryn, and Leslie H. Amanda makes some comment to the camera about “winning on and off the field,” which makes me feel extremely uncomfortable as a viewer. She’s trying way too hard to give off this “irresistible” sexual energy. The girls are egging Sean on to take off his shirt and they’re vying over rubbing sunscreen on him. Finally, they start playing volleyball and the game takes forever while getting really competitive. Taryn says this is the “most important game of my life.” Really?!?! This is the most important thing in your life? How about your rent or getting a promotion at work? No? It’s playing some volleyball game with other girls so you can have more time to compete over one guy’s attention. Seriously, get your priorities right! Again, this is why I’m commenting on these shows and not participating. The Blue Team wins and the Red Team is left heartbroken and crying. The girls are shown on the couch at the house in tears. They are in estrogen overload and all that is missing is The Notebook and a gallon of Ben and Jerry’s.

The Blue Team is having cocktails with Sean and spending individual time trying to make an impression on him. Lindsay is the first to talk with Sean and says “I’m so amazed by you, you’re the everything I’m looking for on paper and I feel chemistry.” Isn’t this the girl who showed up drunk and in a wedding dress the first night? How did she recover from that debacle? She continues to stroke his ego and talk about what she ideally wants in a relationship (straight out of a hallmark card). They make-out and somehow she’s redeemed herself! Then Desiree talks about how blessed and lucky she is to see him this much. Come on! They are treating this man like a God and doesn’t that go against some commandment? Anyway, Sean also makes out with her.

Then awkward Amanda gets her time with Sean. She tells him that she’d bring a light airy fun to his life. What does that even mean? Amanda seems very scripted as the villain because Tierra is actually into Sean whereas Amanda might want to be pushing her career as a “fit model.” Still not sure what a “fit model” does and whatever modeling she does is not on par with Kristi’s. The girls, more importantly Kacie B, have decided they don’t think Amanda is there for Sean. Kacie B is trying to kick another girl out of the house. It worked last week with Katie. Kacie B decides to use her time with Sean to discuss how it’s awkward between Desiree and Amanda. It’s bringing negativity and she feels stuck in between them. She doesn’t reference any particular example and Sean is confused as to why they’re discussing this. He says “ they seem fine and neither one has said anything to me.” Kacie B didn’t think this one through and it just made her look like a drama queen. He even says to her “I want you to act like Kacie not like this crazy person.” Score 1-2 for Kacie.  The rose is given to wedding dress girl Lindsay and Kacie B is left crying and feeling lost.
