The Bachelor Season 17 Episode Seven Recap: Part One

February 12, 2013 by Coco Liberty

The Bachelor rolls out the red carpet for the six remaining girls and sends them to the Virgin Islands. You would think with all the beautiful scenery and beaches the cattiness would subside, but no can do!

AshLee has the first one-on-one with Sean and she is very open about her opinions and life experiences. They enjoy a ride on a catamaran and AshLee reveals that she got married during her junior year of high school. She admits she was searching for some form of control while dealing with a rocky mother-daughter relationship. This explains AshLee’s neurosis about needing control and feelings of abandonment. Sean is a saint for wanting to help these women out, all of whom have a sob story. AshLee also decides to complain about Tierra to Sean. Why ruin a perfectly nice date? Hopefully, Sean doesn’t shoot the messenger and send her home like he did Robyn. She explains the drama in the house and how Tierra doesn’t interact with the girls well. Again, Tierra lacks social skills and her narcissism gets in the way of making girl friends. Sean is slowly starting to see the truth about Tierra and believes that AshLee is being honest. To end on a good note, AshLee confesses that she is falling in love with Sean.

Tierra has her first one-on-one date that was actually scheduled and not a producer-induced “surprise.” She has time to refute AshLee’s claims. In the background of the Tierra show, Sean and her are taking a tour of St. Croix, which of course isn’t up to Tierra’s standards. She would have requested a boat tour and something more extravagant. Red flags should be going off right now for Sean. *HIGH MAINTANENCE* Sean withholds the information he got from AshLee and the date goes very well. Tierra thinks that Sean is being distant and suspects that AshLee sabotaged her date. Always the professional manipulator, she tells Sean that she loves him hoping that will convince Sean of her feelings. Let’s hope our Texas Christian isn’t that naïve.

The group date consists of the fun girls: Lindsay, Catherine, and Desiree. Sean wakes them up at OMG so early (NOT for working professionals) 4:42 am! Get out of town, no one wakes up that early! Sean takes pictures of them “without makeup.” My favorite quote of the show, Catherine says, “I think I’m the lowest maintenance girl here. All I have to do is pee.” She is definitely my favorite and the contrast to whiny, spoiled Tierra. They head out to Point Yudall to catch the sun rise. Hometown dates are looming in everyone’s mind and all the girls are vying for that one rose. Lindsay and Sean talk about how she doesn’t bring a lot of guys home, but she’s ready to show him off to her family. They all play on the beach until the sunset. Of course, they can’t see it because of where they are located.

Sean talks about how Catherine and him have a unique relationship where they can be goofy and serious. Catherine, like AshLee, reveals that her father tried to commit suicide in front of her and her sisters at 14-years-old. How is Catherine so normal after all these things that happen to her? Her father lives in China and is dealing with his depression. He is still in her life, but she struggles with their relationship. She didn’t want to weird him out if she gets a hometown date. Desiree starts to get very emotional talking about her family. You can tell she admires her parents’ relationship and all they’ve been through. Sean meeting her parents symbolizes how important he is to her and she says, “I do want to settle down. It would mean the world to me for them to see happiness in me and to see who I’m spending the rest of my life with.” She is definitely counting all her chickens before they hatch. The reunion special should be interesting if she doesn’t make it to the finals. Sean tells the girls that he’s very comfortable around all of them and this was a hard decision. He gives the rose to Lindsay and the other girls feel defeated.

Leslie’s one-on-one date with Sean is the most awkward and tension-filled date. She wants to tell him her feelings, but is holding back.  He even notices that when she talks to him she doesn’t look him in the eyes and hasn’t kissed him. We all know how important the kissing is for Sean. Exhibit A: See Lindsay’s revival from the wedding dress to now. Kissing is very important. They walk around Mount Washington picking fruit. She starts to tell him her feelings and then says “let’s go pick more fruit.” She says what all of the viewers are thinking. “I used to watch this show and think the girls were fools for falling in love so fast, but now I’m one of those fools.” Leslie is very guarded during the date and I’m worried about her future.
