The Biggest Loser’s Tara Costa Sued For Weight Gain

July 12, 2013 by Natalie Nicole

After losing 155 pounds on The Biggest Loser, you would think that Tara Costa was in good shape (no pun intended) with her endorsement deals. However, there was a turn of events when she began to gain some of the weight back. After signing a fitness clause stating that she must maintain her fitness level until the contract was finished, the sudden weight gain was cause for a law suit.

Tara was the 2nd runner up on season 2 of The Biggest Loser: Couples. Previously, she was a working woman and plus size model in New York who decided to shed the pounds in fear of health complications. In an interview with Weighing in with Suzy, Tara said that she went from a starting weight of 294 pounds to her finale weight of “a disgusting” 139 pounds.  She admitted that 139 pounds was “too thin for my body.”

The trouble began with an endorsement deal with ILoveKickboxing.com (a branch of FC Online Marketing Inc.), which included both providing images and making guest appearances on the site’s behalf. The deal went awry when gaining 45 pounds meant that Tara was unable to make her scheduled appearances. According to Huffington Post: “The company had paid $45,000 to Costa’s foundation in exchange for her image and likeness, but since she regained the weight, she could no longer represent the brand in photo shoots or public appearances.”

Tara was not going to back down without a fight. In retaliation, she filed a lawsuit against FC Online for sharing a photo of her without compensation. Although the lawsuit was withdrawn, Tara’s tweets show that she is back on track with her intense workouts. Maybe she can lose those 45 pounds to resolve the dispute!
