The Dark Knight Rises Has Its First Proper Trailer
After a leak spoiled things for people who don’t like grainy bootlegs, a proper trailer has been released for the final of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, The Dark Knight Rises. As well as being Nolan’s final film in the series, this will also be the final time Christian Bale will play Batman. He told reporters last year, during promotion for The Fighter, that he’d only play The Dark Night one more time. Which is kind of great, actually. The guy can act his peers off the screen at the best of times, but he’s been a little underused in the previous two films. Where he was electric in The Machinist and Rescue Dawn, he was a prop with a laboured, affected voice in BB and TDK.
Well, that was the trailer and below is the movie’s poster and a promotional photo of Tom Hardy as Bane. That trailer: so little going on and yet there’s what’s effectively a spoiler, for sure, right? One of the main characters, one of the only likeable characters, looks to be on death’s door. And there’s no real, visual hint of the arbitrary love interest after whom he lusts and because of whom the city of Gotham is intermittently in peril. Well, there will be Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, which should be interesting… in a good way (that’s a role which would have gone to Sean Young of Blade Runner, in 1992′s Batman Returns, but for a broken arm after a horse riding accident – so she shared on this week’s Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew).
