Tish Cyrus Files For Divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus

While 20-year-old Miley Cyrus was out and about defending her relationship status with fiancé Liam Hemsworth, her parents’ Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus’ relationship was crumbling. Three years after Billy Ray filed for divorce then reneging on the motion, his wife of almost 20 years decided she wanted out. Tish filed for the “dissolution of marriage” on June 13 citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Although Tish was unaware of their mutual assets and debts as a couple at the time she filed for divorce, she is asking for spousal support for the Achy Breaky Heart singer to pay for her attorney fees, and full custody of their youngest child, Miley’s 13-year-old sister Noah.
Tish released a statement to TMZ the same day saying, “This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.” The couple was married on December 28, 1993, a little over a year after the release of Achy Breaky Heart.
The night before Tish filed for divorce, Miley was spotted at the Myspace party in Los Angeles. She took the black carpet baring her midriff and flashing her gold fang grill. Miley seemed to be in good spirits while she danced behind Robin Thicke and Pharrell as they performed (there was no twerking involved) and according to People Magazine looked “giddily happy” as she showed off her engagement ring.
