Tom Cruise Sort Of Admits ITW Story, But Says He “Calls Suri Every Day”

Earlier this week, In Touch Weekly Magazine seemed to arbitrarily revert to the “poor-Tom Cruise” narrative to fill its slow news day.
The cover alleged “44 days without Tom.” Specifically, that his six-year-old had been “abandoned by daddy.” He had been working and, one can assume, missing out on his visitation in favour of work. Cruise sued over a comparable story months earlier. It seemed he would sue over the ITW cover too. However, today, he issued a rebuttal not a lawsuit. It seems ITW’s allegations may have legs.
The tabloid alleged that he’s not seen his daughter since late July/ early August at the time of his last custody visit when he was heavily photographed doing activities with his daughter. He made sure everyone got the picture, he left for work, and he hasn’t seen her since. His rep explains why.
Apparently, [Tom Cruise] star hasn’t spent time with his adorable 6-year-old daughter in over a month; a sharp contrast to near-daily pics showing ex-wife Katie Holmes doting over Suri’s every move.
In fact, the last time the Rock of Ages star was snapped with his [daughter] was in late July when he took Suri to Disney World, where the two hit the beach and where the [child] channeled her inner princess in a Little Mermaid getup.
But the explanation for the star’s absence, his camp says, is actually pretty simple: Cruise is a busy working dad.
“Tom has been in England shooting a film,” Cruise’s attorney, Bert Fields, exclusively tells E! News.
Indeed, the star has been hunkering down in London, where he’s currently shooting the upcoming thriller All You Need Is Kill. Despite the distance, the 50-year-old does manage to score some precious moments with Suri.
“He calls Suri every day, sometimes twice a day,” Fields says. “He loves Suri and is a constant presence in her life. As in the past, when he¹s shooting in a foreign country, he has to rely on daily phone calls.”
Still, the distance can’t be easy for Cruise, who had to watch from across the pond as Suri had her first day of school in New York City last week. – via E! News.
