Two and a Half Men Renewed for 11th Season… But Without Angus T. Jones
According to Deadline.com this weekend, CBS has renewed Two and a Half Men for its 11th season.
The two men, the leads, original cast member Jon Cryer and somewhat new addition Ashton Kutcher, have signed one-year deals to return to the show. However, the show’s erstwhile “half man” Angus T. Jones has not signed back on and no longer has a regular part on the show.
Producers are allegedly considering giving Jones cameo roles on the show instead. And, although they’re not confirming it, it’s probably because Jones doesn’t WANT to come back. Moreover, Us Weekly reports, Jones wants to focus on music instead. ”They tried really hard to keep him, but he was just done done,” a source told Us, adding that the young actor is interested in making “Skrillex style” music.
After making him the highest paid child actor on television, Jones publicly bashed the show as immoral and implored viewers to tune out.
Back in November, Jones took part in an evangelical video that went viral in which he said: “If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men… I’m on Two and a Half Men, and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth… Do some research on the effects of television and your brain. I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television.”
Later, following a massive backlash, Jones apologised: “I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed. I never intended that.”
