Us Weekly: Blake Lively Dumped Leonardo DiCaprio, She Didn’t Want To Commit

October 6, 2011 by Hollywoodite

Us Weekly has a take on the relationship breakdown of Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio that’s counter to the reports of everyone else. Really, it’s like they went out of their way to, belatedly, contradict the reports in People, Lainey Gossip and others.

It was confirmed earlier in the week that Lively and DiCaprio were no longer seeing each other. Us Weekly got the exclusive confirmation while People was left in the dark and, hours later, still only had a belated and pitiful source confirmation. The two reps, issuing a joint statement, told Us Weekly the couple were still friends, hinting that they drifted apart for certain reasons but no one cheated on anyone and there was no drama. People’s sources confirmed the same, no drama.

Lainey Gossip added a few interesting footnotes, namely that Lively was seen spending time with Ryan Reynolds and she may have wanted to start something with him, after their night as friends, without starting tacky love-triangle drama DiCaprio would want no part of. A more recent report from Lainey said DiCaprio’s work schedule pulled them apart as did the long distance thing.

However, Us claims Lively was immature and not ready to commit to what ‘more mature’ DiCaprio wanted. They claim he wanted more of a commitment from his filler piece than she was willing to give. He’s 36, she’s allegedly 24, although she turns 22 through 24 every year, so on the face that makes sense. But DiCaprio really feels like the commitment phobic after his relationship with Bar Rafaeli deteriorated past the point where people expected a ring etc. He seemed to tire of her and want something new/ younger. He Clooneyed her. It was easy to assume he Clooneyed Lively after only five-months too.

They’ll always have Monte Carlo. And Sydney. And Disneyland. After reps for both Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio confirmed their breakup exclusively to Us Weekly on Tuesday, many are wondering what exactly went wrong between the Gossip Girl actress, 24, and the Oscar nominee, 36, after such a hot and heavy courtship.

“Blake wasn’t ready to move to the next level,” an insider tells the new Us Weekly, out now.

After meeting last November and kicking off their globe-trotting romance in May of this year, “It was just too much, too quickly,” the insider explains. “Blake wasn’t ready to settle down.”

But, J. Edgar actor DiCaprio is looking ahead to the next phase of his life, the source says. “He’s looking for someone to eventually start a family with…That’s not where she’s at. She’s only 24!”

Adds another source: “He’s more mature. They’re not in the same place right now.” – via Us Weekly.
