Usher Raymond’s five-year-old son Usher V was involved in a tragic pool accident earlier this week. According to reports, the youngster had been playing by his pool when his arm got caught in a drain after he attempted to retrieve a toy. Both his aunt and their housekeeper were unable to release the boy but fortunately, two other men were. After days of questioning regarding his capabilities as a parent and an emergency motion being filed by his ex-wife regarding custody, Raymond is finally breaking his silence.
“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,” Raymond said in a statement last night. ”I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being. I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock.”
Following the incident, Usher V aka Cinco was rushed to a local hospital in Georgia were he was placed in the ICU and remains under the observation of doctors.
Just one day after the terrifying ordeal, Tameka Foster, Raymond’s ex-wife and Usher V’s mother, filed documents to be granted custody of both Usher V and the couple’s second child, four-year-old Naviyd, claiming that Raymond has placed the children in a “dangerous environment.”
While Raymond did not address his current custody issues in his statement, he did take the time to express his gratitude to those involved in saving the life of his young son.
“I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews,” Raymond stated. “They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.”
