Usher’s Ex-Wife Files For Custody Following The Near Drowning Of Their Five-Year-Old Son

The five-year-old son of R&B star Usher Raymond was rushed to the Emergency Room earlier this week after nearly drowning in his pool. Usher V is now being cared for in the ICU and will likely make a full recovery. However, the incident has Raymond’s ex-wife Tameka Foster concerned to the point that she has filed for emergency custody.

TMZ reports that Foster filed legal documents on Tuesday in Fulton County, requesting an emergency hearing this week in which she hopes to gain custody of the couple’s two children and take them out of what she calls a “dangerous environment.” As it stands now, Raymond has primary custody of the children with Foster having limited custodial rights. Foster hopes she can get that switched around at the hearing.

“Now that it’s sunk in, she is livid,” a source close to Foster tells People Magazine of the incident involving Usher V. “Usher has custody and won’t let Tameka have the kids, even when he’s out of town. She feels like the kids are being raised by his family or by nannies, when they should be with their mother.”

“This is the straw that broke the camel’s back,” the source adds. “She could have had the boys [Monday], and they would have been fine. She knows that accidents happen with kids, but she should have been with them.”

On Tuesday, Foster spoke to CNN, saying, “My son is OK, but I have no further comment at this time.” When asked about the emergency custody filing, she said, “I have no comment.”

Just last year, Foster’s other son, 11-year-old Kile Glover, died in a jet ski accident in Georgia.
