Vanessa Minnillo & Nick Lachey Married, Had A Secret Wedding

July 16, 2011 by Hollywoodite

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey are married, after five years together. The couple has pretty much been together since the marriage of Lachey and Jessica Simpson ended and he rebounded. Evidently, one’s jump-off after a marital break-down can be wifey material. That’s news in itself.

These two are only moderately-newsworthy. Even with the divorce from Simpson, the former-couple’s televised wedding, and the coins Lachey didn’t earn but got to keep in the divorce, he’s really only a footnote in his second wedding. It’s weird.

Well, Lachey and his second wife seem to think they’re interesting; interesting enough that their wedding requires a special on TLC. And, the couple effectively used People to issue a press release for their televised ceremony in a spectacularly-thirsty move.

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey were married Friday evening in a tropical island ceremony in front of just 35 friends and family, their reps confirm. “For us, this is just a stepping stone to do what we ultimately want and that’s to start a family together,” Minnillo tells People.

The pair, who became engaged in November, flew their wedding guests to the secret location as a surprise. “Nobody knew where they were going,” says Minnillo, 30. Adds Lachey, “Our wedding invitations were in the form of a plane ticket. We told them they were going away and the attire was ‘island chic.’ It was all very vague.”

Minnillo, the new host of Wipeout, donned a two-piece Monique Lhuillier ensemble featuring an intricately embellished lace corset with rose and crystal detail, paired with a signature hand tufted skirt made of silk faille. The look was completed with a tailored bow belt at her waist and chapel length tulle veil. Lachey, 37, who hosts The Sing-Off, sported a Dolce & Gabanna suit.

Their wedding will be televised on a TLC’s special called Nick & Vanessa’s Dream Wedding premiering on July 30 from 9-11pm ET/PT. – via People.

So many things going on in one report.

They married and must have released the news right away – like, within about an hour or two. They had to make sure People didn’t get scooped by Us Weekly, TMZ, RadarOnline or whomever so the statement would have that little append bit promoting Thirsty: The Wedding.

And Mannillo wants his babies BAD, right? She’s telling People, like they’re trying for a baby on their wedding night… which they may well be.

There’s also a description of the dress, of which we’re yet to see photos. It sounds fussy. There’s so much going on; less is more, almost without exception, for a wedding dress. Hers sounds over-thought. Like she was trying to be different and creative, but it sounds like she went too far. It could still be good, they need to release wedding photos and a photo of the wedding dress. It’ll probably be in People, if they’re in their pockets like that already.
