Us Weekly Blames Vanessa Paradis For Johnny Depp’s “Broken Heart”

In short: Us Weekly Magazine is published/ owned by Johnny Depp’s close friend Jann Wenner. Which explains why Star Magazine, People Magazine (who broke news of the split in January), ITW, and everyone else, took their pound of flesh while Us Weekly was rather quite about what had already been labelled as Depp’s philandering, “wandering eye,” and “mid-life crisis” hitting on female co-stars from Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Rum Diaries, and The Lone Ranger. People Magazine named Eva Green as a possible mistress, ITW and Star suggested Amber Heard and Ruth Wilson. Everyone concurred that Depp was a cheater, there was just no consensus as to whom he cheated with.
Us Weekly has now picked up the story, and the tabloid blames Vanessa Paradis for being a bad girlfriend who drove her partner to cheat and to drink. Uhuh. More specifically, the Team Depp-approved cover story throws the mother of his children under the bus while trying to make him the sympathetic one. Incidentally, even Us Weekly concedes that Depp cheated; he just cheated because Paradis “drove him” to it.
According to the print edition, quoted by Lainey:
* Paradis wanted to break up two years ago because she was unhappy.
* Paradis complained all the time about their low key lifestyle. She didn’t want to stay on a private island and quietly raise their babies. She was bored and restless.
* Paradis was the one who wanted to move to Los Angeles and that’s when it all unravelled.
* Paradis was the one who insisted that Depp make big budget Disney movies because she loved the money. Depp wasn’t interested but only did the movies for her (when those movies became big deals, Paradis then resented Depp for his success).
* A source told the tabloid: “Nothing Johnny did was ever good enough for Vanessa. When he was working, she wasn’t happy. And when he wasn’t working, he was called a slob for not doing enough for the kids and her family.”
* Paradis was so horrible and Depp was so miserable that he started drinking and he strayed with other women including “allegedly, an extra on the set of Pirates Of The Caribbean” (the last one). He also, maybe, fooled around with Eva Green, Amber Heard, his publicist and maybe more (that’s a listicle of mistresses his team co-signed).
* The magazine says Depp is a good father (just a bad partner): No matter what was going on between him and Paradis, Depp always made time to see Lily-Rose and Jack. If he had a day off while filming The Tourist in Venice in 2010, he’d fly to France “just so he could have an early breakfast with his kids before being on set the next day.”
A few notes: It’s all blaming the woman. It’s sexist and crude. And it’s transparent. Regarding the fourth highlight, Depp admitted on the record he’s only making Disney movies for the money. Although he says he needs the money for his kids. He told Vanity Fair November 2011: “Basically, if they’re going to pay me the stupid money right now, I’m going to take it. I have to. I mean, it’s not for me. Do you know what I mean? At this point, it’s for my kids. It’s ridiculous, yeah, yeah. But ultimately is it for me? No. No. It’s for the kids.”
