What Happened To The 9-Year-Old Girl Who Gave Birth? Who Is The Baby’s Father?

Yesterday, it was reported that a nine-year-old girl in Mexico, identified only as “Dafne,” learned of her pregnancy in the seventh month and went on to give birth to a baby girl of her own by Cesarean section.
At the time of the original report, Dafne told local law enforcement that a 17-year-old boy was the baby’s father with whom she had been invited to live and raise the baby together. When she declined to move in with him, he reportedly left town. Lino Ginzalez Corona, spokesperson at Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office questioned the veracity of the minor’s claims saying “Due to her young age, we don’t know if she is being entirely truthful.”
And it appears Corona was right to question the girl who it appears may have been coached or covering for a family member who had been abusing her.
Corona explains that Dafne is one of 11 kids herself and “Her parents work all day and were not watching after her, and therefore didn’t realize what was about to happen.” Moreover, her mother, who can neither read nor write, didn’t realise that a minor having sex was a crime.

And according to new reports, there’s more.
Dafne’s mother, right, who is in her early 40s, allegedly works as a prostitute and encouraged Dafne to become a prostitute too. Although, Dafne is rather busy as she’s reportedly the main caregiver to her 10 siblings and cooks and cleans all day rather than going to school. She rarely leaves the home, and when she does “she sometimes [is] only wearing a towel,” reports the Daily Mail. Reports also speculate that the mother, a sex worker, may have HIV or AIDS, passing it to possibly Dafne and in turn the newborn.
According to local reports, locals and relatives suspect Dafne’s stepfather, in his mid-40s, is the real father of the baby (although the family has since fled their 7ft by 25ft breeze block home to avoid further questioning and a DNA test to determine whether the stepfather, or any other male relative, is guilty).
The stepfather is reportedly physically abusive, allegedly beating Dafne, and he slept in the same bed with Dafne and took baths with her and the mother failed to intervene (a local paper reports Dafne “could have been raped multiple times over several months but claimed that it was never violent”). And he’s accused of sexually abusing one of his biological daughters in the same manner, for which locals claim he had spent time in jail.
“What he has done has shamed our family. I don’t know why the girl’s mother lets him carry on the way he has. They’re both liars and I think it’s terrible what has happened,” a relative of the stepfather said. ”Dafne is a child. She’s just a child. The girl’s mother is in love with him so she protects him, and this is what happens.”
