Wilmer Valderrama Explains His Relationship With Demi Lovato

Because it tends to bother people when men in their 30s hover around admittedly emotionally-damaged and vulnerable teenage girls, someone saw fit to ask Wilmer Valderrama, 32, WTF he was doing spending so much time with Demi Lovato, 19, with whom he was reportedly in an on-off relationship-of-years and who just came out of rehab for emotional/ behavioural and eating issues.

Asked why he would want to date a teenager, Valderrama replies: “It wasn’t even like that. It was a real interesting time for her. We were really just best friends.” Which raises more questions than it answers. But Valderrama appears to be denying the years of anything romantic even with on-off flings, his possible cheating, and the many, many photos of he and Lovato making out and holding hands which seem to make him a liar.

Asked about Lovato’s recovery, although she admits she’s still cutting and purging, Valderrama replies: “[I’m] proud. She’s amazing, she’s a great human being. I’m so proud of her considering all of the different obstacles and everything she’s been through. I mean, she’s got a pretty good head [on her shoulders]. Like I obviously; like she said, it’s going to be a struggle every day. But I was very proud to be there for her when she needed me, and she was there for me a number of times, too. We have a great friendship. She’s definitely someone really special to me.”
