X Factor Brings Back Mario Lopez as Host and Confirms Firing Khloe Kardashian

FOX announced today that actor and television personality Mario Lopez will return as the host of The X Factor for its third season.
“I’m looking forward to returning to The X Factor team,” said Lopez. “We’re coming back stronger and better than ever and I’m excited to check out all the new talent.”
“I’m thrilled Mario is back for Season Three of The X Factor,” said Simon Cowell. “Hosting a live show and keeping the judges – especially Demi – in line, is not an easy job, but Mario is a pro and we are glad he’s coming back.”
The Extra host was joined by Khloe Kardashian during season two but, with this announcement, FOX officially confirms the reality star has been fired.
Speculation of Kardashian’s exit has been brewing for months. The reality star even admitted to InTouch magazine that she would love to be back. But her inexperience, along with inability to bring in ad money and a larger audience (as Cowell had hoped) wasn’t enough to keep her around.
FOX released the following statement regarding her departure: ”Khloe Kardashian will not be returning to co-host The X Factor. We really enjoyed working with her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
